The Grammar of "Promise"

You can use two main structures to express a promise: `Promise + To-Infinitive` "I promise to call you." `Promise + That + Will` "I promise that I will call you."

National Exam Key

In the functions section, if you see a sentence starting with "I promise..." or "I swear..." , the function is always Expressing a Promise . Also, remember that promises are usually made about the Future , so we use "Will" or "To-infinitive".
