Present Perfect Simple (have/has + past participle)
Focuses on the
result
of a completed action.
Example: "I
have written
the letter." (The letter is now finished).
Present Perfect Continuous (have/has + been + verb-ing)
Focuses on the
duration
of an ongoing action.
Example: "I
have been writing
the letter for two hours." (The action of writing is the focus).
Key Time Markers
- Simple: ever, never, already, yet, just.
- Continuous: for (a period of time), since (a point in time).
