Unit 4: Writing Skill: Building Paragraphs (بناء الفقرات)

A good paragraph has a clear structure: a main idea, supporting details, and a conclusion.

Paragraph Structure

  • Topic Sentence: Introduces the main idea of the paragraph.
  • Supporting Sentences: Give details, examples, or reasons to explain the topic sentence.
  • Concluding Sentence: Summarizes the main point or offers a final thought.

Example:

[Topic Sentence] Recycling is one of the most effective ways for individuals to help the environment. [Supporting Sentence] It reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills and conserves natural resources like timber, water, and minerals. [Supporting Sentence] Furthermore, it saves energy because making products from recycled materials often uses less power than making them from new materials. [Concluding Sentence] In brief, by simply recycling paper, plastic, and glass, we can all contribute to a healthier planet.
