Unit 7: Reading Skill: Guessing Meaning from Context (تخمين المعنى من السياق)

When you see a difficult word about celebrations , don't stop reading! You can guess the meaning by looking at the context clues (the words and sentences around it).

Step 1: Look at Neighbors

Check the words before and after the unknown word. Do they describe a feeling, an action, or an object?

Step 2: Use Logic

Think about the topic . If the text is about a wedding, words like "lavish" likely mean something positive or grand. Context Clue Types

The "Substitution Test"

To check if your guess is correct, try replacing the hard word with your "guess word." *Example:* "The city was vibrant during the festival." If you guess vibrant = full of life , does the sentence still make sense? Yes!
