Responding to Bad News (الرد على الأخبار السيئة)

Formal / Empathetic رسمي / تعاطفي

"I'm deeply sorry to hear about your situation." "Please accept my deepest sympathies."

Informal / Neutral غير رسمي / محايد

"What a shame / That's terrible!" "Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that."

National Exam Key (مفتاح الامتحان الوطني)

When responding to news, tone is everything. In the exam, if the news is about a *death* or *serious loss* , avoid "What a shame" (too light) and use "I am deeply sorry for your loss" or "My heart goes out to you." (النبرة هي الأهم؛ تجنب التعابير الخفيفة عند الوفاة واستخدم عبارات التعزية العميقة)
