Can, Must,

Should
to talk about ability, rules, and advice.

| Can (يستطيع) | Ability (I know how to do it) (القدرة) | I can speak English. (أستطيع التحدث بالإنجليزية.) |
| Can't (لا يستطيع) | Inability / No Permission (عدم القدرة / عدم الإذن) | I can't swim. You can't smoke here. (لا أستطيع السباحة. لا يُسمح لك بالتدخين هنا.) |
| Must (يجب) | Strong need / Rule (حاجة قوية / قاعدة) | You must finish your homework. (يجب أن تنهي واجبك المنزلي.) |
| Mustn't (يجب ألا) | Don't do this (It's a rule) (لا تفعل هذا - إنها قاعدة) | You mustn't use your phone in an exam. (يجب ألا تستخدم هاتفك في الامتحان.) |
| Should (ينبغي) | Advice (نصيحة) | You should get some rest. (ينبغي أن تستريح قليلاً.) |
