Grammar: Past Perfect
Use:
An action that was completed
before
another action in the past. It's known as the "past of the past."
Form: had + Past Participle (V3)
- Positive: Subject + had + past participle (V3).
- Negative: Subject + had + not + past participle (V3).
- Question: Had + subject + past participle (V3)?
Timeline: An action (x) happened before a later past action (y).

- By the time we arrived, the train had already left.
- She hadn't studied French before she moved to Paris.
